Any spring that exhibits early signs of fatigue (for example, separation in coils, even if slight) should be replaced immediately.

Fast service . Can’t beat Peak springs
As my Peak chair is an old original, the springs on it have closed loops on both ends. The new spring has one closed end and one open hook end. Fortunately, my husband is a millwright and was able to make adjustments to the chair to accomodate the spring. The standard spring has less tension than the original, so everyone is learning to readjust.
Accidentally ordered this spring because it said it was for the cadillac/trapeze. I needed arm springs for my cadiallac not the spring for the trapeze swing. There are no returns on springs when ordering you find out when you try to exchange/return them. Buyer beware
