The High Ladder Barrel is where the classical repertoire opens up: deep stretches, spinal extension and the strength to hold them. Ours is built to Joseph Pilates' original dimensions, with the correct rung spacing and barrel contour, so every exercise feels the way it was meant to.

Then we fixed what everyone hates about ladder barrels. Instead of fiddly adjustment knobs, a three-step locking system sets the distance between ladder and barrel quickly and securely, with a labeled scale so every client starts in the right place.

MATERIALS

The Artistry® High Ladder Barrel is constructed from Beechwood or American Walnut, with a reinforced steel bracing system for strength and stability. The contoured barrel features premium Boltaflex® vinyl upholstery for durability, abrasion resistance, and easy cleaning. Standard black upholstery complements the natural wood finish, combining traditional craftsmanship with the durability needed for everyday studio use.

Domestic orders placed with Standard Ground Shipping will ship via Fed-Ex, UPS or USPS Monday-Friday (excluding holidays and office closures) and will arrive within 7-10 business days, pending credit card authorization and verification. Artistry® High Ladder Barrel FAQ
How does the three-step locking system work?

The Artistry® High Ladder Barrel features a simple three-step adjustment system: kick, slide, and lock. Release the locking mechanism with your foot, slide the barrel to your preferred position using the labeled adjustment scale, and secure it in place. There's no need to loosen or tighten adjustment knobs, making it easy to reposition the barrel between exercises or clients.
What are the foot plates for?

The Flat Foot Plate provides cushioned support and added elevation.
The Vertical Foot Plate, used with the flat plate, adds bracing support and expands the exercise repertoire.

The vertical and flat foot plates add standing and foot-work variations to the repertoire. Both come in the box. Replacements are sold separately.
How much space do I need?

The barrel extends up to 47 in long and the ladder is 30 in wide. Allow 3 ft of clear space on every side.
What is it made of?

The ladder is solid Beech or Walnut hardwood. The barrel and base are Baltic Birch, finished to match the Beechwood or Walnut you choose, with reinforced steel bracing.
Why Baltic Birch?

Baltic Birch is built from thin layers of birch, each laid with its grain running across the one before. That cross-laminated construction stays stable under load, resists the warping and splitting solid wood can develop over time, and holds hardware securely. We use it for the parts of the apparatus that work hardest. Natural hardwood and finish-matched Baltic Birch can vary slightly in tone and grain, so every piece is unique.
Can I use it at home?

Yes. Ladder barrel work includes deep stretches and inversions, so Peak Pilates® recommends learning under a certified Pilates instructor before practicing on your own. Your 2 months of the Pilates Project app keeps you practicing between sessions. Keep children and pets away from the equipment.
