Equipment Maintenance

Peak Pilates® equipment is constructed of the finest components and materials, with every unit tested for performance and durability. We recommend visually inspecting your machine daily and thoroughly inspecting all hardware every two months to make sure every nut, bolt and fastener is secure. Regular maintenance of your apparatus will ensure that it retains its beauty and function for a safe and superior Pilates experience.

wood line maintenance

Studio Wood Line

Each piece in our Studio Wood Line is handcrafted out of solid wood or sustainable bamboo, and finished with a non-toxic, water-based lacquer that is virtually impenetrable. Other than an occasional wipe down using a mild soap solution or furniture polish, no additional maintenance is necessary.

Specific recommendations for wood reformers, tower systems and the cadillac convertible:

Tracking Systems: The sealed bearings in the carriage wheels are permanently lubricated and require no further attention. Inspecting the wheel axles every two to three months is recommended. Remove any debris that might be entwined between the wheel and metal housing and tighten the axles if any wheel “play” is evident. The tracks upon which your carriage rides are anodized to inhibit the buildup of unsightly aluminum oxide residue. Clean them on an as-needed basis with a warm solution of mild soap in water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Foot Bar: Check the foot bar motion daily. In the unlikely event that the foot bar support loses its pivoting resistance, such as falling freely under its own weight, tighten the locknuts and contact us for replacement parts.

metal line maintenance

Metal Line

Our metal line equipment is made of powder-coated aluminum or anodized aluminum for long-lasting durability, and should be wiped down with a mild, soapy solution as needed.

replacement parts

Replacement Parts

Springs: We recommend replacing each spring every two years. Any spring that exhibits early signs of fatigue (for example, separation in coils, even if slight) should be replaced immediately.

Clips: Safety clips can wear over time. Replace them as needed.

Primary Leather Straps: On an as-needed basis, apply a coat of leather conditioner to your primary straps. This is very important to prevent them from drying out and cracking. Leather straps naturally stretch a bit through use; sometimes the stretching will occur unevenly from strap to strap. You may find that you adjust one strap for length and not the other. Multiple holes allow you to adjust the length of your straps to suit your preference. Generally, after a month or two the straps will stabilize completely.

Ropes: You may experience some minor “fraying” as a result of use over time. Fraying is completely normal and to be expected. Any ropes with excess fraying, tearing or other problems should be replaced immediately.

upholstery maintenance

Upholstery

A daily routine of wiping down vinyl upholstery after use with a mild cleaning solution that does not contain silicone is recommended. Wipe with a dampened cloth with plain water and dry after cleaning. Vinyl pads should be repaired and/or replaced if they start coming apart.
