In our wildest imaginations, a situation where studios and gyms would be shut down and people would be practicing social isolation did not exist. For many of us the world over, this is now a reality and we are facing disruptions in every aspect of our lives.

At Peak Pilates® we believe our community is a team of people passionate about health, fitness- and especially movement! We ask you to do your part in this time to come together to fight the virus in every possible way. We believe that by working together we can fight this virus, in our body and outside of it, and slow its spread to lessen the impact it will have on our lives, our students lives, our studios, our health care systems, and our economies.

Join the team of people fighting the virus by taking these measures:

  • Be vigilant about sanitizing! Work to take precautions about what you touch everywhere you go. Carry and use hand sanitizer. Use disinfecting wipes and wipe down everything before and after you touch it. This not only protects you, but the person who might touch the surface after you. Use soap and water, alcohol, bleach – get online and learn how to make your own sanitizing agent!
  • Wash, wash, wash your hands regularly and thoroughly for at least 20 seconds.

If we all pull together, and do our part, it’s possible we could eliminate the virus’ spread and reduce the number of cases. Let’s be part of the solution and play our role in flattening the curve by ‘keeping’ clean and adopting any other measures suggested by reputable health organizations.

Keep yourself as healthy as possible. Remember that during the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic, Joseph Pilates managed to keep all people in his care healthy through movement. So, eat a healthy diet, keep up with movement, get fresh air and stay rested. This will give you the best chance to be resistant.

In times like this, it is easy to panic. People are fearful. And fear, leads to stress, which can further impair the immune system. Take this time to enjoy some quiet. Listen to music, practice your Pilates, stretch, meditate… do whatever soothes you. Inform yourself with facts.

In the event you develop any symptoms associated with cold, flu, or virus- act smart. Isolate yourself in your home. Follow recommendations for treatment provided by your health care professional.

Let’s pull together and become part of a proactive solution to protect our health, the health of our loved ones and community. We each have an important role to play.
