With so many great sessions, amazing presenters and opportunities for connection, PES is truly a special event. But where do you start? Here are some tips for making the most out of your Pilates Empowerment Summit (May 30-June 2 in Miami, Florida):

1. Attend the Free Kickoff Master Class

If possible, attend the kickoff master class, which is completely free! Moving with the Masters is a fun, fast-paced master class led by the Peak Pilates® Master Instructor team. This year, we will teach Power Circle Mat, but spots are limited!

2. Plan your Sessions Carefully

This almost goes without saying, but it is important to read the session descriptions. When you look at the sessions, you will notice a mix of workouts, workshops and lectures.

The first time slot of every morning allows you to get your workout in. These sessions are planned to inspire your body and your teaching. This year, look for the Quiet Room; this is a full studio set up with an MI present to answer questions about equipment and exercises. It will also allow you to do your own workout, and maybe get a suggestion or two from an MI!

The second time is three hours long and devoted to get in-depth knowledge on a subject. You will see everything from Special Populations work (scoliosis, osteoporosis, MS) to exercise technique sessions to teaching skills. Finally, you’re at lunch!

The third slot of the day is a two-hour workshop to discover more about all things Pilates. And finally, the last time slot is a one-and-a-half hour session that combines theory and practice. You’ll get the theory behind the practice you enjoy.

Think about trying a session with a new presenter. New presenters are gems waiting to be discovered! Explore a fresh topic, something you don’t know much about, and expand your thoughts on what Pilates can be!

3. Try a Lecture

Lectures give so much information that cannot be absorbed in any other way. This year, we have a variety of subjects – from osteoporosis and MS – to great sessions on how to build your business. Whether you own a studio or not, you are a business, so learn to build it!

4. Lunch is More than Eating!

Between noon and 1:00 p.m. is an opportunity to network and make new friends. Join people you don’t know at a table and introduce yourself, or head to one of our free lunchtime sessions. Grab your lunch and on Day 1 and head to meet Kathryn Coyle, the Life Time’s National Pilates Manager and Peak Pilates® Leadership Team member, who will present a session devoted to opportunities that Life Time provides for teachers, MIs and studio coordinators.

On Day 2, we will be hosting a special session on advancing on the Peak Pilates® pathway. Explore what lies beyond the role of Pilates instructor and what possibilities exist for studio owners, Master Instructors and ambassadors. And of course, lunch is a good time to visit the store and see what’s new.

5. Meet a Pilates Elder

End Day 1 strong by attending our cocktail reception and talk on Romana the early years with Michael Fritzke and Tonn Voogt. This has become a perennial high point of our event as we explore the Elders in a new way and with a new focus each year.

6. Attend the Pre-Conference Session

Want more? Attend the pre-con with Kathy Corey and take a look at the work through the eyes of the Elders or join the post-con Intro to Spiraldynamik® for Pilates workshop with Michael and Ton. Either way, you are going to gain some great new insight to movement.

7. Enjoy Miami!

Get out there and enjoy the restaurants and shopping along the waterfront!
