"Our Pilates program has reported a 158% growth, nearly doubling overall profits and far exceeding all original expectations of the program.?"
Success Story: Life Time Fitness The Challenge Life Time Fitness contacted Peak Pilates after encountering problems with inconsistent instructor training and a need for a structured career pathway for their staff. Originally, Life Time Fitness began its Pilates program by employing instructors from a variety of training backgrounds and levels. It soon became evident that not only the classes but the instructors themselves were delivering an inconsistent member experience. This in turn led to poor membership retention, as well as constant instructor turnover. The Solution Eduardo Perez, National Director of Mind/Body Programs at Life Time Fitness, chose to implement the Peak PilateSystem® (PPS) Instructor Training series, a high quality, scalable and progressive three-part program that builds to a Professional Certification. This provides Life Time’s instructors a defined career path as well as a set compensation structure. Since implementing a consistent Pilates program with Peak Pilates as their partner, Perez states that the Pilates program has reported a 158% growth, nearly doubling overall profits and far exceeding all original expectations of the program. Life Time Fitness currently offers instruction on Peak Pilates Total Workout System®, a Combination System that allows them to offer both private and group instruction on the mat, reformer and tower, which is ideal within a high-use health club setting. By offering feebased classes, private lessons and pre-priced packages, Perez forecasts that Life Time’s membership retention and Pilates participation will continue to exceed previous goals. Peak Pilates’ approach to professional development within the PPS Program has allowed Life Time’s instructors to become empowered and learn the importance of marketing and networking to new and existing club members. Perez believes that Peak Pilates’ instructor support and quality training has aided Life Time Fitness in developing such a progressive and successful Pilates program. “It doesn’t matter how many signs or posters you put up, it all comes down to the level of accountability and training [of your instructors] that can prove how successful a new program will be,” he said. Since the inception of the relationship, Peak Pilates equipment and comprehensively-trained instructors are now standard at 44 of Life Time’s 71 locations throughout the U.S. "We are currently filling all of our MVe classes. Everyone loves the MVe." Success Story: North Valley Athletic Club The Challenge North Valley Athletic Club, based in Chico, California, created its equipment-based Pilates offering when owner/manager Scott Schofield decided to implement Peak Pilates’ MVe program as a way to compete with the competition. After researching the options, Schofield decided it was time to offer more than just a Pilates mat class. "We wanted to bring the Pilates program to the next level by adding the MVe Chair program," he said. The Solution While North Valley Athletic Club also offers a variety of traditional group exercise classes, Schofield states that he has seen the greatest success within the MVe program. Because Peak Pilates’ complete and structured instructor training is included in the MVe package, Schofield is confident that club members will receive professional, consistent instruction and as a result will have better success in their overall workouts. By utilizing Peak’s pre-designed, music-driven MVe classes, participants receive a well-designed, fun and results-oriented workout with each class – no matter what level of training their instructor previously had. Since launching Peak’s MVe program Schofield has witnessed an increase in membership retention. "We are currently filling all of our MVe classes," he said. "Everyone loves the MVe." North Valley Athletic Club includes MVe classes in full-time membership packages, and recently began offering personal training lessons for an additional fee. "The MVe has served as
a great way to enhance
the level of Mind/Body
programs available at our
facility."
The Challenge In April 2007, Kellie Pioch, Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor at St. Anthony's Carillon Wellness Center in St. Petersburg, Florida decided to enhance the level of Mind/Body programs offered at her facilities, and needed an offering to bridge the gap between private training and traditional group fitness classes. The Solution Since implementing Peak Pilates' equipment and education nearly one year ago, Pioch has seen a large increase in Pilates participation from a majority of St. Anthony's 3,400 members. St. Anthony's now offers Peak Pilates programs at all of their three facilities, including classes on the mat, reformer and MVe Chair. Mat classes are offered at no charge, acting as a feeder into fee-based equipment training. Pioch notes that the MVe classes have increased profits as the facilities offer fee-based group and private training on the MVe Chair. In addition, the classes appeal to members that were hesitant to try Pilates in the past and serve as a profitable step in between the mat and reformer programs. In the future, Pioch plans to implement the combination Peak Pilates MVe Fitness Chair and Reformer package that features predesigned, music-driven classes in order to offer members an additional option for their Pilates training. |
